Grief & Loss

Birds flying across a cloudy sky

Grief can change the landscape of your life in ways you may never have expected.

The loss of someone or something deeply important can affect how you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Grief may come with sadness, longing, anger, confusion, numbness—or feelings that are difficult to name.

Therapy can offer a place to be with what you’re experiencing, without expectations about how you should grieve or how quickly you should move forward.

Grief can take many forms

Grief is most often associated with the death of someone we love, but we can grieve many kinds of losses. The loss of a beloved pet, the end of a relationship, pregnancy loss, changes in health, the loss of a home, a career or identity, or a major life transition can all bring a profound sense of grief.

Some losses are clearly recognized by the people around us, while others may be less visible or harder to explain. Whatever the circumstances, your experience of loss is your own, and there is no single right way to grieve.

Making space for grief

Grief isn’t something that needs to be fixed or overcome. Often, it asks us to find a way to live with what has changed while staying connected to what—or whom—we have lost.

Grief can be deeply isolating, and sometimes part of what we need is simply to feel witnessed and understood. In our work together, there is room for the complexity of what you’re going through. We may explore the emotions, memories, relationships, and changes that have come with your loss, while also paying attention to what you need as you begin to find your footing again.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the understanding that grief unfolds differently for everyone. Together, we can honor what has been lost while helping you find ways to move forward with greater understanding, connection, and ease.
